Hokie Joint

Hokie Joint
Born in late 2007 through a mutual dissatisfaction of the guitar-driven Rock swamping the 21st Century Blues scene, Hokie Joint took 5 pieces of youth and experience to create a ground-breaking, song-driven twist on the genre.

During their 6 years together, through performing their own dramatic, raw, and unique brand of dirty, roots-based groove music, Hokie Joint reminded the blues world that the music they hold so dear is about more than just a guitarist’s dexterity!

Their debut album ‘The Way It Goes…Sometimes’ was released on Amsterdam-based label Coolbuzz in 2008. Shortly after, the band had the honour of sharing the bill alongside legendary artists including ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Moby, Jamie Callum, Booker T and Solomon Burke, among others.

Following the formidable reception to “The Way It Goes…Sometimes”, the band graced some of the most prestigious stages on the UK & European circuit. Including two wildly received mainstage performances at the BRBF 2009 (Peer, Belgium) and Maryport Blues Festival 2010 (UK), where the band was seen as the showstoppers at each festival.

2011 saw the band release their 2nd studio album, ‘The Music Starts To Play’, drawing influences from the depths of Danube and the darkness of the Delta. Peaking in the Amazon Blues Chart top 10, the band went on to record a session for BBC Radio 2 at the legendary Maida Vale Studios.

The band disbanded on a high in 2013, following sell-out headlining performances at some of the UK’s highest regarded Blues festivals and clubs, including support for Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes.

Now, in 2025, after over a decade apart, they’re back!

“Pure quality, strange, theatrical, something between Tom Waits and Ian Dury but new and refreshing” Blues Matters (UK)
